Iran Computer Museum
SheTalk, centered on women’s role and presence in art and technology, was held at the Iran Computer Museum. The program included a research–listening lecture and a specialized presentation with live coding.
Presenter: Narges Mostafalou
In the first part, the research–listening session “The Dark Side of the Moon: A Historical Narrative of Women Pioneers in Electronic Music” was presented by Narges Mostafalou (Gas Lou), a sound artist and electronic musician. Over 75 to 90 minutes, the session reviewed the foundational role of women in the formation and transformation of electronic music from the 1950s to today, examining the career paths and works of 8 to 12 pioneering artists with visual slides and audio samples. A playlist of works by women artists — from the second half of the 20th century to the present — was also set up so the audience could listen through the museum’s sound system.
Sound artist
Narges Mostafalou (Gas Lou) is a sound artist and electronic musician based in Iran who works at the intersection of sound and ecology. They draw on generative systems, eco-acoustics, field recording, and sound synthesis to create soundscapes inspired by natural environments. Their work has been presented on radios and at festivals including Wave Farm, Camp.FR, Radio alHara, Bauhaus.fm, Mutek.ae, and TCS.
Presenter: Pedram Sadegh Beyki
In the second part, Pedram Sadegh Beyki gave a 60-minute presentation, “Machine of Imagination: An exploration of algorithmic art through a reading of Vera Molnar’s works.” The session reviewed the basics of algorithmic art and parametric design, and showed — through programming and live coding in p5.js — how a rule becomes an image, and what role the machine plays in creating form.
Creative developer
Pedram Sadegh Beyki (born 1992) is an artist, programmer, and animation director. He has worked in animation production since 2011, and since 2016 in algorithmic design, creative tools, and generative artworks. His work has been presented at international festivals including Boiler Room 4:3, Demo Festival, Neo Shibuya, and LICC.
